I went in to Thrift Town a few weeks ago for a dress.. and left with about 3 dresses, a few tops, some new decorations.. and a teapot lamp that needed some love. That’s usually what happens when you hit up a thrift store, right?

As soon as I put this teapot lamp in my cart, I was stopped left and right with women “oohing” and “ahhing” over the adorable thing. I guess it was just really meant to be for me because with a $3.99 price tag I’m snagged it before I did!

I set the lamp on my kitchen floor and finally got around to refurbishing it earlier this week and finished it up today. It had a cut power cord, rusted light bulb holder and was pretty dirty. With just a lamp kit from Ace Hardware, some cleaning wipes, fresh paint and a freshly created lamp shade.. it’s now the perfect fit to my office!

Here’s a look at what I did:

This is the lamp in my shopping cart 🙂

This is the lamp kit I got from Ace with everything I needed alongside my own trusty tools!

I re-wired the lamp and started putting the pieces back together!

Then came the fun stuff! Paint!!

Next up, I needed a lampshade! I stumbled upon a beat up shade, but with a good shape, at the Goodwill outlet where everything is sold by the pound. That place is AWESOME!!

Not only did I get the lampshade there, but also some perfect fabric to cover it with! With the glue gun, I was all set!

And… voila! My new most favorite lamp ever is all set up in my office! Time for business.. and some tea!

The one (and ONLY) downside to bargain shopping is that sometimes, the items are not in the best condition. Things may need minor alterations, an added button or a stitched hem here and there. So you have to invest the time for that $2 score.

I purchased a beautiful giraffe print burlap/leather Diane Von Furstenberg purse at Jeremy’s in December. It was during one of the crazy 70% off sales and I scored it for like $15. As soon as I got home, I transferred all of my items from my old purse into my new one and rocked it RIGHT away.

Well, a few weeks passed… and the poor thing started falling apart. 😦

The burlap part started tearing and people would say ‘Do you know your bags torn?’ I decided I needed to either part ways or think of something extra crafty to save it.

Seeing how I recently started a new business (more on that later!!) I can’t just throw away a purse since I don’t have super funds to just go out and get a new one!!

So – I was extra crafty and here’s how I brought my bag back to LIFE!!

Here’s the bag before – super cute; but very worn!!!

I decided I wanted to cover the worn part with a scarf! I found this PERFECT one at Thrift Town for .99!

I took the scarf, wrapped it around the majority of the bag, pinned it in place, and hand stitched it on.

And…. Voila!! I think I did this bag justice by giving it another go! It’s just too cute (scarf or not) to pass up!!

What do you think? yay or neh?

One of my (many) new year resolutions is to do more things away from my laptop. This includes getting some fresh air, learning to bake, making tasty dinners and most of all – crafting!

When Kellen and I were chatting about getting some new furniture for our apt, I jumped at the chance! After all – I do love myself a good shopping trip! I headed to a few Thrift Towns and found the perfect items that I was looking for!

Of course they needed some extra love! Here’s a look at my furniture makeover crafting! 🙂

First is a bathroom stand I scored for $1.99:

The bottom of the magazine part was missing so I got a piece of plywood I had from our old broken magazine stand and hammered it in!

Then I got to painting and detailing…

And… here it is all done in the bathroom! Not too Shabby!

Then I found this perfect dresser for our bedroom!! It was marked down to $19.99! Score

I re-painted it an ivory white, choose a gold paint for the drawers and with the help of my niece Emma, chose a few fun accent colors and new knobs.

Once I got it upstairs and put all of the drawers back, I knew it was just perfect for the space!! And… what’s better than a His and Hers dresser?? He won’t try to steal any of my pink drawers!

Happy Crafting everyone!
