As I was on my way for some groceries at Ranch 99 in Sacramento in the stormy spring rain, I miraculously stumbled upon a Goodwill outlet. I had been craving some thrifting but with my stomach growling only dinner was on my mind.

However.. when I saw the neon painted windows that screamed ‘$1.89 per lb’ for clothes… I srsly screeched into the parking lot and ran inside!! I’m normally very comfortable with thrift stores since my mom has been a thriftier since I was a baby on Mission street in the city. However – this outlet was a little bit of a shocker.

Huge bins FILLED to the top with items and people wearing face masks, gloves and all digging through the bins to find goodies. Of course, I jumped in. But next time, I’ll prob wear my cleaning clothes b/c I felt pretty gross when I left.

It was all worth it though because I found tons of awesome things including 2 dresses, 3 shirts, 2 shirts for my niece, one shirt for my sister, one shirt for Kellen, a lamp shade here, fabric for my lamp shade here and 2 new pieces of art… all for $8!! That’s what? Like 60 cents an item! I’ll take it!!

One of the items I found was this super mumu sea shell dress! I just loved the fabric and saw the potential.. so I sewed it to a perfect fit!!

Here’s the before:

AND… here’s the AFTER!! Def new fav dress!!

I thought this little rope belt looked perf with it!! What do you think??

I went in to Thrift Town a few weeks ago for a dress.. and left with about 3 dresses, a few tops, some new decorations.. and a teapot lamp that needed some love. That’s usually what happens when you hit up a thrift store, right?

As soon as I put this teapot lamp in my cart, I was stopped left and right with women “oohing” and “ahhing” over the adorable thing. I guess it was just really meant to be for me because with a $3.99 price tag I’m snagged it before I did!

I set the lamp on my kitchen floor and finally got around to refurbishing it earlier this week and finished it up today. It had a cut power cord, rusted light bulb holder and was pretty dirty. With just a lamp kit from Ace Hardware, some cleaning wipes, fresh paint and a freshly created lamp shade.. it’s now the perfect fit to my office!

Here’s a look at what I did:

This is the lamp in my shopping cart 🙂

This is the lamp kit I got from Ace with everything I needed alongside my own trusty tools!

I re-wired the lamp and started putting the pieces back together!

Then came the fun stuff! Paint!!

Next up, I needed a lampshade! I stumbled upon a beat up shade, but with a good shape, at the Goodwill outlet where everything is sold by the pound. That place is AWESOME!!

Not only did I get the lampshade there, but also some perfect fabric to cover it with! With the glue gun, I was all set!

And… voila! My new most favorite lamp ever is all set up in my office! Time for business.. and some tea!
